5 Tips to Winding Down for Christmas

Closing_over_ChristmasThe holiday season is right around the corner and we have less than a month before Christmas is here! Most businesses are trying to figure out how they will wind down for their Christmas and New Year’s break, because everyone has to have a break right? You may be wondering what steps you need to take in order to wind down your business for the holiday season. Here are 5 tips to lead the way:

  1. Contact your Clients

It’s important and imperative to let all of your clients know when you will be away. They may think that you aren’t closing up shop this year if you don’t give them a warning and they find out the hard way, you just might lose them. Always let your clients know when you are away for any period of time, and give emergency contact information as well.

  1. Automatic Posting is a Wonderful Thing

So while you are away you will still need your social media and email’s to be sent out on a regular basis, but you don’t want to do it yourself while you’re on break, right? Setup your posts and emails ahead of time and set them to automatically be posted and sent out on a specific date and time, this way you don’t lose contact with your customers.

  1. Set up Away Messages

You will need to create a new voicemail message for when you have incoming business calls that you don’t want to bother with. Make a message stating you’re away for the holidays and when you will be back; make sure to leave emergency contact information as well! Do the same for your email, you can set up an instant reply back to anyone who messages you letting them know you are away.

  1. Complete your Work

Make sure that you don’t have any loose ends to tie up or anything that needs to be done before you start your holiday time. Go over your lists to make sure everything is done and as it should be to make your time off a great one!

  1. Review your Goals and Business Plan

Since you probably won’t be returning until after the New Year has begun, you will want to over your personal business plan for the upcoming year. Take time with this project and make sure you know exactly what you want and the resources to get them!
